Star Wars Battlefront 2 First Person Only

I personally just like 1st person better than 3rd for the immersion and overall feel. However as I suspect Battlefront will once again support both 1st and 3rd person which disappoints me. The reason for this is people in third person can corner peek all day and pop out while someone else has no idea they were there. Anyone else annoyed but this reality or do you like 3rd person so much you don't care?

It would be nice if they had the 3rd person veiw in the middle rather than being able to toggle left/right to prevent corner peaking.

I love 3rd person!!! Having it in the middle would be very awkward! I do not think that would be a good idea. They could have it to where you cannot see around a corner until the character actually has visible view.

There's been many smoothly run games with the 3rd person only being avaliable in the middle. Don't see why it's a problem here.
That arguement aside, can you be a little more specific on your idea?

Can you name a few? Not arguing, just haven't really played to many that work that well.
Say you are coming up to a corner, instead of the camera just staying in it's normal spot, it would start tightening to the character that way the player cannot see around the corner. But if the player peeks out they can then see, but it makes them vulnerable.

Army of two is a 3rd person game that I believe is directly behind the character. But I am not sure either of these ideas would solve the issue. Sure a centered 3rd person would reduce visible area around cover but not eliminate it and for the idea of the camera tightening you would still slightly be able to see unless it forced you into 1st. Additionally if proximity to cover caused the camera to tighten what would stop someone from taking a step back?

I can only play 3rd person, I have tried 1st a few times and always get my **** handed to me.

I would be best if they only allowed 3P and did away with the corner peek advantage. The xtra up down 'immersive' movement in 1P is a eye strain and FOV is nowhere near actual human FOV .

I only play in first person for the reasons you mentioned OP, but I think that third person will definitely make a return. I personally don't mind.

For me, 1st person is cool for like 3 seconds. I like the look of the blasters up close..it's awesome. But for gameplay, 3rd person all the way.

3rd person has always been a staple of SWBF. It should remain that way.

100% agree with @Alvonator on this one. I think a good option to please most people is to leave it as it is for public games however, add an option into private modes where all players are forced into a specific field of view.

First person is fine for generic shooter games like CoD and Battlefield, but 3rd person is absolutley essential for a Star Wars shooter game. It all comes from the simple fact that this is Star Wars and as such, people want to see themselves running around as a Stormtrooper, or Clone Trooper, or a Droid, because these are all iconic characters and appearances. With games like CoD and Battlefield, people don't really care about seeing themselves as a generic soldier in camo gear or futuristic exo-suits because they're somewhat realistic, therefore, kinda boring. But seeing yourself as one of these iconic Star Wars characters is a real thrill for people which would be quashed if there was no 3rd person option.

Republic commando was first person and a well received game. It doesn't have to be third person because it is Star Wars. However, I do get your point about players wanting to see their character. My personal opinion is it just leads to to much corner peeking.

Well then they should just make it 3rd person only to avoid the imbalance. I feel like, on the whole, a lot more people prefer 3rd person when it comes to this game because of the reasons I stated, and so long as the people playing are decent gamers, then they should be able to adjust to a shooter game that doesn't have 1st person quite easily.

They could balance it by giving the first person view a slightly better more detailed view on the radar map. Instead of just three distance circumferences and six sections it could be changed to 5 and 10. Something along that line could add that balance people are looking for. Also view should only be able to switch from 3rd to 1st between spawns.
    (edit) I play in 1st

I prefer playing in 1st, but I don't mind how it is now. Keep 1st and 3rd option. If I play offline I sometimes switch between both. Plus I love the option for flying in ships to switch pov

I like playing in 1st person for Battlefield 1 and 4. SWBF is different.

ok for the umpteen millionth time: BATTLEFRONT WAS NEVER A FIRST PERSON SHOOTER HARDCORE GAMER GAME.
it always had 3rd person view.
dark forces was the hardcore fps game, and i still think that series should be resurrected for the FPS god gamerz crowd, first so that they dont compromise the next battlefront too trying to keep them all happy as well as the star wars fans, and also because they deserve a full on FPS with a campaign and the brainless deathmatch mp they all prefer. (brainless as in you dont need to think much since you dont need to be part of a team so you dont need to go on forums complaining about sniper campers etc.)

I completely agree that 3P is very OP compared to 1P, and something needs to be done about that. Hopefully they can find a way to balance the two. I used 3P for about 520 of my hours on Battlefront, solely because it is so much better as far as advantage-wise. You're putting yourself at a huge disadvantage by using 1P, which sucks because of how amazingly immersive the game is and the graphics.
So for the past 50 hours or so, I've just been using the DLT-19x in first person, to experience the graphics and also because it looks better in montages.
By no means should they take either one out of the next game (which they won't, lol, Dennis has confirmed that). However, I do think some adjustment should be made to 3P so it isn't unthinkable to use 1P since 3P is currently so much better.

They both have benefits and drawbacks. I've played a ton in both views and once you get used to the one you're less familiar with, you pretty much start getting the same scores regardless.

Gotta have third person. If it wasn't there I wouldn't be here talking to you fine people

Following rumors that linked fan-favorite shooter studio DICE to development on Star Wars: Battlefront, updates on the highly-anticipated title have been relatively scarce. An E3 teaser trailer for Battlefront gave gamers a (very) brief glimpse at the epic scale DICE has planned for the project – featuring a Rebel Snowspeeder an AT-AT walker during the iconic Battle of Hoth. Of course, the teaser didn’t offer many concrete details – other than confirmation that the game would run on DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine.

Posts must be relevant to Star Wars: Battlefront. Be courteous and civil. Do not post Restricted Content. First Person vs Third Person (self.StarWarsBattlefront). During the beta I basically only played in 1st person, but I've only played 3rd since the game released. 50% of the reason I like 3rd person though is cause it reminds of.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 1st Person Gameplay

However, just because the studio hasn’t been shotgunning gameplay footage across the Internet, doesn’t mean that they’re only in the early stages of delivering the next Battlefront installment.

Speaking to investors during Electronic Arts’ Fiscal Year 2014 Quarter 1 earnings call, EA Games Label president Frank Gibeau offered an update on their next Galaxy Far, Far Away shooter experience – claiming that the title is “well into development.” The update shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who has been following the game’s lengthy journey from cancellation (while at Free Radical) to suggestions that DICE practically “begged” to take on development – even before Disney officially shuttered LucasArts.

Reflecting on the response to the Battlefront teaser and pre-release buzz, here’s the full quote from Gibeau:

“We showed 22 seconds of where we’re going with it and the fan response was very positive. The DICE team is well into development on that product already, so we feel very bullish about our shooter rotation over the next several years.”

No official release date has been set for Star Wars: Battlefront but many gamers are expecting the title to fall into an alternating release schedule alongside the studio’s Battlefield series – to help prevent franchise fatigue. Gibeau’s suggestion that the publisher is confident in their “shooter rotation over the next several years” certainly lends credence to this line of thinking. If that turns out to be the case, players might only have to wait until Holiday 2014 to get their hands on the title – since Battlefield 4 is scheduled to launch later this year. Still, with Activision cranking out annual Call of Duty branded releases, it’s possible that EA still intends to annualize the Battlefield series – and that the rotation will actually be between Battlefront and the Medal of Honor games instead.

Still, claims that Battlefront will “innovate” could also mean that, even though the studio is “well into development,” they’ve still got a long way to go – and a 2015 launch (following the enormous buzz around a 2015 release for Star Wars: Episode 7) is still a possibility.

EA has yet to detail what they mean by “innovate” but Gibeau did confirm one feature on the call: “A third-person component.” Prior Battlefront games allowed for the ability to switch between first and third-person perspectives – and, following Gibeau’s comment, it’s likely the option will also be included in DICE’s iteration (at least in some form).
