How To Get Rid Of Ads In Skype
Generally Skype shows promotions and help tips on the bottom of the left pane. Now, promotions on web pages and applications are usually a pain to most of us. And as far as help tips are concerned, it is useful for a newbie but once you are well versed with the tool you may not require them.
Disable advertisements. After that, you’ll have to click the folder with your Skype ID, right click “config.xml” and open it in Notepad. Now, hit “Ctrl + F” and paste AdvertPlaceholder into your search box. Change the line 1 to 0.
Here’s how you can disable both promotions and/or help tips from showing on the Skype interface next time.
Step 1: Launch Skype and log in to your account.
Step 2: Navigate to Tools -> Options.
Step 3: Go to Notifications->Alerts & messages from the left pane and then uncheck the options reading Help and Skype tips and/or Promotions.

Step 4: Click on Save and exit the interface.
I do not like such messages and hence have them disabled. I guess many others will want them turned off too. And by any chance if you like to have them and do not see them, do the reverse of Step 3. Simple!
